Burning ISO file to DVD-R
#1
I need help with burning Windows 7 Home 64bit ISO file with Nero Express 2017 and with ImgBurn they both finish the burn but with warnings. Nero Express had the following warnings in the log;
17:56:08 #27 CDR -1194 File Writer.cpp, Line 301
PMA update failure
E: HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW CH08LS10

17:56:08 #28 TRANSFER -24 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 1235
Could not perform end of Disc-at-once

17:56:08 #29 TRANSFER -20 File ThreadedTransfer.cpp, Line 1235
Could not perform Write

17:56:08 #30 CDR -1194 File Writer.cpp, Line 345
PMA update failure
E: HL-DT-ST BDDVDRW CH08LS10

Questions are;
1 Has the ISO file been burned properly so that I can use the DVD to install Windows?
2 The is DVD-R unusable?
3 Is the problem with the DVD ROM not burning the ISO file properly or the disc and do I need to replace the DVD ROM?
Advice gracefully appreciated.

The video assumes that I am creating the ISO file from a disc but the ISO file has been downloaded from the internet and I used ImgBurn "Write image file from disc" are you saying I should have used " Create image file from files/folders"?

I would put the write speed on slow

How to write an image file to a disc using ImgBurn

This is how I burned the DVD-R but it still does not answer my questions on my first post above.
To clarify; I need to know if the warnings/errors are with ImgBurn and Nero or are they related to the DVD Rom?

Write errors can be a number of things.
  • Bad Media Disc.
  • Writing to fast of a speed for complex files.
  • Wrong settings.
  • Bad Burner or Rom Drive.
  • Dirt or finger marks on CD/DVD.
  • Burner doesn't like the type of media disc you trying to burn to.
  • Not enough disc space
  • Use Over-Burn
  • Bad/Corrupt ISO file
  • Bad SATA or Ribbon cable
  • wrong settings on burner software
  • Read or Write lens is dirty or failing
Hope this helps to narrow down your issue.

Thanks for that. I have come to the conclusion that what you are saying about the burner having problems is correct as it is 9 years old and I was able to burn the ISO file on another PC.

I have today ordered a new burner with a higher specification.
