1. Whats every ones opinion of putting windows page file/virtual memory on a ram drive as long as there is ram to spare?

2. And if you were gonna put windows page file/virtual memory on a ram drive how would you configure it?

Man that is a very old debate. The best way to get most out of your system is to buy more RAM and get an SSD.

Look, the way I see it, it all depends on  how much of ram there is to spare or if the user  is a serious multitasker or not.  It also depends on the kinds of programs that he may run. Basically, you get the idea!!

If we imagine a scenario where there will be sufficient ram to spare  at all times, then there's no point in setting up the  virtual memory on any drive, let alone on the ram drive

How should someone set up a ram drive for use of the page file but also make the windows system more efficient?

Well, there aren't any rules for these tweaks and so it can't exactly be determined what setting would be better.  It's important to realize that there are various aspects that contribute to a system's efficiency

If you ask me, it's better to let Windows automatically handle the page files the way it's designed to

I have a dell dimension 8400 that is 150 instead of 3 to 600 for hard drives and also doesnt support more then 4gb of ram.

The computer still runs good especially running windows 7.

Yeah an SSD is defentitely the best bet to speed up your system

Yeah Partha, I always do it with every system I work on.

I also let Windows take care of the page files for me. Never experienced any issues with it.
