I have had problems with that piece of software myself. Also, there is open candy (adware) in the installer.

You can install if you wish, but make sure you select no on the offers
or even better
download and install unchecky which will detect and protect against adware on your system.


If you would like my opinion, I would suggest you stay away from that piece of software and use VLC
which is free!

Yeah, I agree! Open Candy does give the wrong idea about the actual software itself.

It is fascinating really. I think the main reason they add it to the program, is for profit. Would you agree Compton?

the problem with including that into software installer it gives what can be good software a bad reputation, in the long run, it could kill a good software

I think software developer that create free software is going about it the wrong way we understand you need profit to continue

if its good software people would give to the development of the software

But the reality is that people rarely donate for the development of any software, and even if they do, it's usually once and so, it can't really be a sustainable source of revenue

Partha point taken if you are not making profit you have to think outside of the box like CCleaner did

with creating a home version and business that give them a way to make a profit still keeping the free version

putting open candy should not be an option

I have used ImgBurn for years and have always downloaded it from Ninite...

ImgBurn does everything having to do with burning ISO images and making data DVDs/CDs. I don't think f23948 was asking about a DVD Ripper.

To add to the PUP issue...

Lots of companies are doing this, but some are sneaky about it. Software companies like BitDefender for example... will actually disclose all the software that is installed and give an option during install to opt out. Some companies are not disclosing what gets installed and not offering an option to opt out. Companies also know that most users have a click through mentality which means... Yes, Yes, Yes... Ok, Ok, Ok...They don't read anything or uncheck option boxes while installing software.
