Should I disable the Windows Pagefile or not?
#1
According to the link below you can put the pagefile on a separate partition on the windows boot drive?

I thought that was a bad thing to do but thats why im asking the forum

Like I have been saying, there is no real noticeable difference running with disabling or leaving Windows Pagefile on.

Here is a full test of running it with and without and there no real difference or performance boost.

this is my take on paging file f you have 4GB and below you need it

because you will still be going to school /college when I say that meaning going to hard drive for memory

if you 8GB and above then your school and college days done no

need for pages

You should not disable Pagefile with 8GB of ram, Windows needs some Pagefile. Disabling Pagefile will only cause you problems in the long run. Why disable it if there is no benefit in doing so? Why don't Microsoft add a feature in Windows 10 or other versions of Windows that would disable Pagefile when 8GB of ram is detected? I tell you why because Windows needs some Pagefile to run correctly.

Windows 10 is fully optimised when installed, yes you can make some minor tweaks but you won't see a massive performance boost.

It's not bad  to put the page file in a separate partition  of the windows bootable drive; it's just pointless. It's the same as keeping the file in the same partition Windows is in

If you read the article carefully, the author states that it would help if the file is created on a separate physical drive because with that, the workload can be split

you are probably right windows probably need paging files not going to argue with the great Britec on the matter

say guys need the good old Britec to take me to school sometimes on tech stuff lol

@ Smirk
Virtual memory  can be very important and it is therefore not recommended to disable the feature. If you attempt to load a new application or file when your RAM is completely  utilized, it would only load if a pagefile already exists on a physical drive

Windows observes which  of the programs in the memory are inactive; they are basically  any minimized applications, or files that were not actively used or accessed for a while

It then smartly dumps these files from the RAM when it is almost full, to the drive( whichever is assigned for the purpose) in the form of a pagefile so that the other new files opened by the user, could load successfully into the memory

If it wasn't for the pagefile, any new program or file launched by the user when the RAM is full, would crash and could cause system instability

I have found no noticeable differences in removing the Windows page file and also no noticeable differences in moving the page file to a different location. Trying to get a noticeable benefit from the page file was a waist of my time.

Compton, I am not taking you to school about tech, I am just stating facts. A lot of techs say disable pagefile with 8GB and I believe this to be wrong.
There is no benefit for disabling Pagefile, also you will so run into trouble and BSOD.

Like I said before, this is a debate that never dies.

Each to there own I guess.
