clean install win 10 home problem

Hi guys my son had his pc crash, he clean installed windows 10 home. all went well and it activated ok.
now the problems he downloaded chrome and avast, but when he tries to install he receives this message.
Your organisation uses windows defender
Application control to block this app
C\users\mnrec\downloads\avast_free_anitvirus_setup_online_cnet1.exe
Contact your support person for more info.
any idea how to resolve this he has tried closing defender, and the windows firewall but no joy..
can anybody help// thanks Brian Sad

I am reading that dissabling secure boot solves this problem. There also may be an option within secure boot setting to clear all previous secure boot settings.

Gulityspark, it is my son's own home laptop "Toshiba"
he clean installed win 10 home, as that was the original system, it installed ok and activated ok, but he gets that message when he tries to install programs ? ..

Go into the BIOS and disable "Secure Boot" and see if that helps your problem.
This is all assuming you have a computer that supports Secure Boot.
The settings you are looking for in your BIOS will look similar to the pic below.

Timstar, disabling safe start in bios worked, thank you so very much,
sorry it has taken so long to get back to you but my son was unhappy trying your suggestion, finally he tried it and it worked,,
I just want to say what a great help all you guys who tried to help are, thanks again guys Smile
