if someone wanted to modify the virtual address space they want for usermode what would they need to consider and what are methods would they go over before making the change?
So ive been reading about users virtual address and so far what ive understood was that users virtual address is the rams virtual address space for user mode and system which usermode gets a sliver of ram until a program or game demands more ram so the system swaps the space of ram to usermode which i have been testing with the switchs added to the boot.ini file in xp and the command line switch for vista and above.
For windows xp's boot.ini is /userva xxxx or /3GB /userva xxxx
For vista and above is /IncreaseUserVa xxxx
Virtal address space has to do with the address space of ram.
Virtual memory is hard drive space used as if it were ram

Oh and does it matter how much physical memory is installed on the system?

With ram of 2GB, 3GB and 8GB I would not worry about it.

I don't mean to be rude but think of this way. What type of performance boost you expecting with 2GB of ram? a simple ram upgrade would be better.
Common sense really
