2.5 HDD error

Hi,
I have a 2.5 HDD which is showing error "The request cannot be performed because of an I/O device error", all options are disabled, appreciate your kind help how to resolve it. It was working fine previously but all of sudden I got this error.

Is this the boot drive, secondary internal drive, or an external drive?

Is this the boot drive, secondary internal drive, or an external drive?

Thank you for your quick reply, it was an boot drive, wanted to use it as an external one and got this error.

- Is the drive from another Laptop / Desktop? Or have you upgraded the drive and using the old drive as an external drive?
- Do you have the drive installed in a USB Enclosure or adapter?
- Have you formatted the drive to remove Windows/Linux first before trying to use it?

Many thanks both, f23948 and Compton, here is the result of the test : https://imgur.com/a/ksmTh seems I need a new firmware that is missing, if I find the firmware how can I flash it ? must have the HDD in my laptop or can be done externally ? thank you and best regards.

Firmware can be found here Samsung hm641ji  5th one down

I see you have a caution on that drive, hope that's a firmware issue and not a failing drive.
