Battery Light On but Won't Start
#1
Hi everyone

I'm a fairly recent member and this is my first post.

I have a Toshiba Satellite P50t-B (Model PSPNVA-01R00N). It is about four years old and I have put an SSD in it.
I was using it last night and as I shut it down I closed the lid. i then noticed that the battery light was still orange.
It now won't start with or without the battery connected or with the power connected or not. I have disconnected the battery and held the power button down for 30 seconds but still nothing.
I guess the light will go out once the battery is depleted.

I was wondering if anyone has any other suggestion please? It's been a good laptop and was in perfect condition (internally and externally) until this occurred.

Many thanks

If the laptop wont turn on without battery or with the battery or when the laptop is plugged in power outlet then this don't look good.
I would say this points towards a bad motherboard.
  • Laptop wont work with battery?
  • Laptop wont work without battery?
  • Laptop wont work under AC Power?
Its unlikely the battery has died and the power jack is bad both at the same time. Have you had any issue with battery before ie losing charge quickly? Have you had any issue with laptop running on power before?

Its hard to say without fully testing the laptop but I would say bad motherboard.

Thanks Brian
I've never had any issues with the battery or power.
I'll keep trying things like buying g a multi-meter to see if power is coming in. I've taken good care with this machine and I like it so it's very frustrating.

Hi
Success! After removing the battery again and the ram, the light has gone out and it now boots using the battery and/or the mains power.

Thankyou for your assistance. Another fun learning experience.
