[Image: herdprotect.png]Scan with HerdProtect

Please download HerdProtect by Reason Software (portable edition) and save the file to your desktop.
Temporary disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware protection - instructions here.
  • Right-click on [Image: herdprotect.png] icon and select [Image: RunAsAdmin.jpg] Run as Administrator to install the scanner.
  • It will ask for the location - leave the default one (%ProgramFiles%) or select another, convenient one.
  • Agree to the terms, select Launch herdProtect and click Finish.
  • Click Scan. It may take a while, depending on your system and connection specs. Please be patient.
  • When it finishes click on Save Results.
  • A Notepad with a report should open.
Please include the contens of that report in your next reply.
This type of scan often produces false positives. In any case do not remove on your own any of its findings! Removal will be made after the careful analysis of the scan results.
Upon completion of the cleaning you may remove HerdProtect if you wish so. To do it just delete its directory (chosen by you when installing the tool).

Hi Brian,

Attached are two reports from HerdProtect scan. The program required a 2nd scan be done in 30 mins after this first scan, so the first file(HerdProtect scan) is the first report and the Hprotect file is the 2nd scan.

Thank you very much.

cdiana

Here is the other file. I guess I cannot upload two files at once.

Hi Compton,

I have downloaded Norton Power Eraser and after two attempts to run it, the system restarts, but Power Eraser window does not pop up to indicate "Scanning your computer... Checking for updates..." This machine OS was updated from win 7 to win 10. When I got it has always been so slow to startup and restart. Don't know if this has anything do with the other. Any work around this issue?

Thanks a million?

post your startup text file

how to save your start-up programs as a text file with CCleaner

do a clean boot then check to see how fast it will boot and restart

Perform Clean Boot in Windows 10/8/7

Hi

Here is the startup file. There is not much change in booting time. I followed steps for Clean Boot and I notice every time sys reboots, the load start up items box is checked when sys restarts. In Services, after hiding all MS Services and clicking on disable all-clicking apply, Kaspersky AV checkbox is automatically checked. Also, these windows are loaded up (one is attached. The MS app store pops, but goes away once you click the taskbar, so was unable to capture it.

looking back at your Additional scan I can see you have Kaspersky Internet Security which can be very resource hurry

I would disable Kaspersky from startup or uninstall it from system then check startup

what I think is happening is that even with a clean boot Kaspersky is somehow starting up

also, run a sfc scan report if any corruption is found or not

Perform SFC scan

Click 'Start' > Type cmd in the search field > Right-click the command prompt at the top of the list and select 'Run as Administrator'
Inside the command prompt, type sfc /scannow > Press 'Enter'
4. Reboot and test.
