expand your system and storage capacity with an additional hard drive
#1
I am trying to expand system and storage capacity with an additional hard drive by swapping the laptop optical bay. The physical installation is very simple, but the computer system won't recognise the drive.

I'm running Windows 10 home and the computer is an Acer 5742.
also installed is SSD which works a treat.

any ideas/hints/tips why the hard drive isn't recognised by the computer please?

I take it you are trying to do something like this?

Yes, exactly that

Okay. All sorted.

I could see that the Hard drive was being recognised in Device Manager and Windows determined the Driver was uptodate.

I used Partition Magic to recognize the drive.
