Hi,

I need some help.
I would like to upgrade my CPU.
My Main Board is an MSI H61M-P21-B3. Currently my CPU is an Intel Pentium G860. I want it to change to an Intel Core i5 2500.
The socket type is the same and the Bios is supporting the new CPU. My problem is that i don't know if i change my CPU, the OS will boot (Win7) normally or I have to do a clean install ??

Id go to the manufacturer's website and type in the model number of your computer and download the tech manual then find the section that has a list of supported cpus. Because i myself has had an issue where 2 of my computers had the same socket but the cpu only worked on the computer that was stock

Is this a laptop? what is the model number?

Hi, this is a custom desktop PC.

I know that the Main Board is support the cpu! If i swap the CPUs, will the Windows boot instantly or it will crash with some error???

You should be fine to swap out the CPU with no issue.
