VLC media player 2.2.6 Umbrella
#1
I use VLC media player (latest version 2.2.6 Umbrella) as my media player and converter of choice.

Frequently, but not consistently, when I open VLC the player window is far larger than my screen size and I bring the full window into total view by simply clicking and dragging a corner/clicking and moving the title bar.

This issue is absent when I doubleclick on any media file to play.

I have had a good nose through the 'Customise Interface' and 'Preference' options in the Tools dropdown and cannot see anything helpful here.

Uninstalling VLC media player, rebooting the PC, fetching a fresh installer from the VLC website and reinstalling the program does not clear away the issue.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a fix?

Thank you for your consideration Smile

Quick Update: I just had a 'stunning brainwave' Cool and signed up to the VideoLAN support forums. A few minutes of searching in their Windows forum produced what should be the solution to my issue: hit the 'Reset Preferences' button at the bottom of the Preferences options within the Tools dropdown. Had not seen this during my previous look. So, I have gone with this and hopefully will now find that the too-large-window scenario has been hit on the head.

Well, my hope that 'Resetting Preferences' would provide the solution to this too-large-window issue has come up short:

. Opening a blank VLC window this evening has resulted in a too-large-window event
. Double-clicking on a media file resulted in that media file opening in a too-large-window to view on my monitor (for the first time I can remember)

So, I am again open to suggestions as to a solution Smile

Thank you for your consideration.

Have you tried...

Right-click anywhere in the VLC window /View /Uncheck "Minimal Interface" and "Full-Screen Mode"... This should bring the border and controls back so you can shrink the window.

Hope this helps...

Thanks Larry - I never had either minimal interface or full-screen mode checked. So, I checked them and then unchecked them. Let's see how this goes ...
