Brian, can you point me to the video you did on recording youtube videos and saving them to pc with VLC. I can't find it.

Ha... It works today!!! Last night I tried to save a music video for my old lady, and when i would click the "play" it would return an error. Seems to work today....nope...couldn't get a video to "play" but...found out the other trick... in the youtube link...example https://www.youtube.com   if you get rid of the https://www and put two ss's in front like this... ssyoutube.com  then try to download the video, you can grab the new link the video is in and then go back to VLC and proceed to download it. Some youtube videos seem to have some copyrighting or something that blocks VLC from playing the video to grab the codec link.. one thing for sure...these proprietary software designers are always clamping down on what you can own. dangit! Linux will find the cure...
