If a tech does a remote support help with a clients Pc is there software that is used to help show you where to begin fixing issues or do you just start doing virus scans and cleaning junk files etc?
I'm just curious because I've had people come to me for help with pc issues and "my pc is slow" seems to be the answer when I ask what's wrong with their windows pc.

Hi Chris, Computer Diagnosis is done on every computer I fix, you gain as much info from the customer as possible, ask some common questions to help with the diagnosis.
Then you can assess the situation of what needs to be done and where to start. (example: my pc is slow) can mean many different things? slow on startup, slow web browsing, etc etc You need to determine what is slow for them? once you know that, you move onto what makes the pc slow, example: software conflict, bad hard drive, overheating, software or hardware issue, malware, corrupt registry, or is the pc just old and needs upgrading or maintenance etc etc.
Now is it something you can fix or is it just down to the computer being real old and needs upgrading. Is it a job for the work shop or can you do it remotely.
The more computers you fix, the easier it will get, its a skilled job and takes time to learn, sadly A+ will not teach you how to be a computer repair guy or girl, it will teach you the understanding of hardware and software which does help.
If you really want to learn and be a repair tech, buy some old parts and pc/laptop on ebay, don't to be lots of money or working, strip them down and put them back together, learn how to test and diagnose, fix friends and family computers , help out on forums and try and fix issues or guide them to a fix. Live, sleep, and eat computers and one day you get there and then the real learning starts. Also join other computer techs and learn from them and help out, things like teamspeak and stuff like that.
hope this helps, just some basic stuff.
All the best.
