hard drive failure?
#1
So my primary hard drive started freezing up on me and then when I tried installing iTunes it started installing like it has the millions of previous times before I've installed iTunes but when it got to a status part of the iTunes install and it just lagged for like 3min "flash back" this isn't right, so I cancelled out of the install and waited for it to finish it's rollback process to uninstall restarted my pc so I can run some tests, so it finishes the process I ran crystal disk info, disk check up and since the brand is seagate I used seatools for dos, all programs said my hd passed

But when I ran crystal disk info it has the blue light which means its good then I noticed my seek error rate dropped from 100 to 73.

Has my hd had it's day or can it be fixed?

Unfortunatly not. What problems does that switch fix? I didn't think that would help because I assumed the hd needle was off set or something but ill have to try that Smile

/f = Fix
/r = Recover
/x = Force Dismount (is similar to using /f sort of)

My DVD Rom was the issue so it seems anyway because I wiped the hard drive and used my external DVD Rom to read my os disk to install Windows and everything seems to of stopped and working fine . But I will remember chkdsk C: /f /r /x which didn't find any errors. Thankyou everyone
Thanks again Smile

The Optical Drive shouldn't have caused the freezing unless you were installing applications from a disc. The fact that you did a re-install and find everything works fine suggests an OS corruption. But it's good you got it fixed Smile
