HP Z17-E100 Laptop CPU Question
#1
My fiancé has the laptop described above. It has the A4-5000 AMD Cpu in it.A few sites say that you can upgrade the CPU to ANY FS1 or 2 socket CPU.Others say you can't.I am wondering if she can install an A10 ,A8,or just the A4-A6 series.

I am going to install a SSD and put Win 10 on it.She has HP's version of Win 8.1 and it is an absolute piece of crap. Now this junk has had all the bloatware that Compton was talking about.

It is the most unstable Laptop I have EVER seen....without exception.Thx in advance.

I think this is the best CPU that motherboard will take.

FS1 is not compatible with newer processors, designed for socket FS1r2.

So to answer your question, no you cannot run a A10 in that motherboard, the FS1 socket was not around that long and replaced by FS1r2 which with take the newer A10 processors.
A8 is still a big jump from A4.

Are you 100% sure your socket is FS1 and not FS1r2?

Britec,I will check on the socket.

Compton,I will NOT use any program I am not familiar with. There are other ways to get that info.. albeit a bigger pain in the arse and more time consuming to use.
