Greetings & Salutations!
#1
Hello everyone!

I've been following Britec's videos on Youtube for the past few months. I thought it was time I sign up here at the forum, and support Britec and all his hard work and effort.

A little bit about myself...

I recently went back to school to major in IT (Computer Networking). I'm CompTIA A+, CompTIA Nework +, and CCNA certified. I hope to pursue more Cisco certifications in the future, specifically the CCNP next but I want to get some hands on experience before I go down that route.

I have certifications, home experience, but little work experience in IT in business environments. I've done some internships, and recently took on an IT contract position to help with desktop support for a medium sized business here in California.

Britec thankyou so much for uploading those tutorials on youtube. I've learned a great deal from watching your tutorials. I hope your are able to add and build upon the content in the future.

You really are doing a great service to the public at large as there are many people who don't have the means to get paid training or go to school to improve their knowledge in IT.

Good Karma to you. You are Top notch sir! Smile

Welcome to the forum Network Guru.

So many people have good I.T. certifications, but its very hard to get work hands on work experience, so I know where your coming from. I have seen people we all sorts of certifications or fresh out of collage try and do a job they have trained to do in a classroom and they fall apart when they try the job for real for a company. I give you some free advise, try and get some work in I.T. even if the job is a lower grade than what you have trained to do on paper, because this will give you work experience and give you a good incite to how things are done in the I.T. industry.

Sometimes you can't teach people in a classroom, you have to show them. PC / Laptop Repair is the same, the only way you learn is break fix and getting stuck in.

Congrats on passing all your certifications. I am sure things will work out just fine for you.

Thanks all for the warm welcome!

Britec your spot on the money about certifications/college training not being the same as hands on experience. Despite understanding how things work you still need to 'break and fix' them yourself (kinetic learning), as you stated to truly understand, and be able get things working on your own.

I've landed a contract IT position, and I've already learned a great deal in the few weeks I've been there. Understanding IT concepts, and learning the technologies just isn't the same as when you get to see "the stuff" up close and get your hands on it.

Thanks again Britec for empowering others via YouTube and your forum here. You've helped me a great deal not only in learning new tricks, but also instilling confidence in me through your tutorials.

I hope you become rich and famous through your hard efforts in helping others. Big Grin
