I remember when i forgot to plug my ram back in before powering on one of my computers well doing that my fans ran really heavy and i kept getting system beeps. So what id do is check the ram,cpu but like guilty spark i dont see what your talking about with the gpu either. Can you possibly get a close up of what your talking about and post to this thread?

The Heatsink is still installed, so we cannot see the GPU... you must mean the PCH (Or otherwise known as the Chipset). It looks to me like someone at some point painted the palm rest without disassembling the laptop. The heat pipe and Sandy Bridge "CPU (Processor)" also has paint on it as well.
