Clone Trouble 0xc000000e
#11
If you have a Seagate or Western Digital drive you could try their free cloning tools.

https://www.seagate.com/gb/en/support/downloads/discwizard/
https://support.wdc.com/product/downloaddetail.asp?swid=119

Both of those let you make a bootable CD and do the clone from outside of Windows.

Hi jmitservices,

I'm just an average user, quite happy to have a clone of my C: drive in the cupboard...just in case of a disaster...which could be just around the corner...you never know.

RAID is quite easy to setup nowadays. The majority of motherboards come with some sort of software RAID as default.

Even the Backup and Restore feature built into Windows might work for you!

My C: drive is Western Digital and my clone is Seagate...so I don't know how I'll get on here.

Only one of the drives has to be Seagate or WD. So you can use either.

I did what you said and downloaded the Acronis True Image WD edition from the Western Digital site and burnt it to a CD.

I then cloned my C: drive using the CD...took 38 mins 72GB (OS plus some files). I placed the clone into the computer and booted from it...got a black screen that looked like the Advanced boot option screen...it had "Start Windows Normally" highlighted so I hit Enter.

Instead of showing the normal Windows Start Screen I had got in the past I got a black screen and at the bottom it had "Microsoft Corporation" and the little green bars going across the screen just like Vista...it then went to the Windows welcome screen then to the Desktop...very strange. I might have a look at disk imaging...maybe I might get better results but thanks for the advice and help from everyone.

Bill73. We use to have this problem in the workshop and it took us weeks to figure it out. Once we upgraded from Norton ghost 2003 (if I remember correctly) to 11.5 corporate this problem went away.

Has anyone tried to clone a hard drive with the OS on it as I did and did you get the same problem...How did you fix it as I don't know why this happens.

When you are doing the clone are you selecting to clone all of the partitions or just your C: partition?

I call my drive that has the OS on it C: drive...sorry for any confusion. I clone the whole drive as below.

I make sure both partitions are ticked...everything on the clone appears to be identical when cloned but if I put in and boot from the clone I get that message...take it out and put back my C: drive I get the same message and have to use the Repair Disk to fix it and I don't know why.
