Windows Update messed up my computer
#1
Hi Folks
Jeff in Ourimbah here.
I was on the 9th asked vis system to do an upgrade.
Always do as I am told.
It was going as normal then got a message can't complete the update try again later.
In the morning when I tried to start the computer got a blue screen after the computer tried to do a repair in the black screen and went to the Diagnostics and finally to the little blue screen. This screen and the following actions I tried as Brian's Youtube video. However to no avail Dam I thought got to be away here.
So at the moment I am copying all files from the HHD I took out from the machine to another HDD incase something disastrous happens. I am OK to reinstall if I have to but I am a little concerned that the files that came with the computer are all going to be lost. Like the camera, and other things all to vast to list, but I think you know what I mean. Whilst doing this copy process I wonder if it was possible to find the recovery section from the hard drive and create a recovery flash drive directly from the HDD. It was just a thought and will wait until I get some feed back from the group. I do have the windows update log that I can copy from the computers HDD if that could be of help. I just think there must be a simple fix to the problem. Thanks in advance

Thanks Brian for your suggestion will see what comes of them.
I have windows 8.1 which was a upgrade some time ago over the internet via Microsoft updates.
Has been working fine until the latest update was performed then all this nonsense started.
The blue screen I talk of is not the SOD. But the screen you get after the computer has diagnosed and tried to do a repair or is it the other way around. I have tried a few things like I have done a copy of all data pix videos etc on the HDD. I then whilst it was out attempted a chkdsk but could make it happen. Forgot the syntax. Dam old age. Anyway put it all back together after taking out the cmos battery and leaving it out it did try to do a very long re[pair, I thought I might have cracked it.Unfortunately still the same result. So I now seem to back to square one. Will I loose all the computers default setups as I do not have anyway to reinstall them. It all came as a running unit with no discs. Hope that helps expand my situation. RThanks in advance Jeff on the Central Coast of NSW.  Heart
