Laptop Crash or restarts randomly
#11
I think you need to do as Compton suggested and boot to a Linux live iso and see if the crashing stops. This will confirm your memory and other hardware are ok.

I think you know the answer on what needs to be done. You need to determine if its software related or hardware. Once you know its software or hardware, only then can you start to diagnose the issue and try and fix it. So you need to go through your diagnostic process to get to that point where you can say its hardware or software.

Without finding out if its software or hardware, you're just be going round and round and guessing what it could be.

I'm not sure about the wooden base issue but I have seen these crashes if "use only HDMI" isn't checked in display as it tries to use split screen and conflicts arise.

GS he is saying it crash's all the time now, even without HDMI. He need to try and isolate whats casing the issue. Crash and Random Restarts could mean anything as you know. Hard Drive, Memory, Motherboard, CPU, GPU, Overheating, Software. Its 7 years old.
