Unable to boot from OS to USB drive
#1
Hi Guys!
Very new to this forum but have been an avid youtube listener to Britec

I'm very interested in learning all I can about the workings of a computer particularly about software issues which can disable the OS.

My problem is that I'm unable to get my Acer E17 to boot to my USB drive.
I start by shutting the OS down completely. Shut down.
I'm able to make the necessary changes in the BIOS and after making the changes I will hit the F10 key to ensure I've saved the changes.
However When restarting the computer it goes right back to restarting the computer as usual.

When looking back at the BIOS it shows the BIOS is set to boot from the USB drive. End of the day my BIOS has changed the settings to boot from USB flash drive but still the computer boots to the start screen program.
Thanks in advance for your assistance!

Thanks for your quick reply!
I have Hirens Recovery program on the USB stick. I configured the program by downloading the ISO and then converting as instructed by the Britec youtube video.

If your computer has a UEFI BIOS you need to be sure "Secure Boot" is disabled and enable "legacy devices".

Timster,
Thank you for your advice regarding booting my laptop into a Flash drive. Your advice sent me directly the flash drive.

I'm able to now see the file directory's of my flash drive but perusing the file directories listed I'm not finding an executable file to start the Hirens recovery program.  Can you provide direction or even a link as to how to go about using hiren's bootable recovery disk would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks again!
