USB 3 with USB transfer speed

Thanks Tim, it never really occurred to me that the problem would be with Elements. I thought it would be the express card or my laptop.  I will purchase a USB flash drive tomorrow and let you know.  Cheers

I bought a Maplin 16GB USB 3 Flash Drive. The USB transfer speed was a little faster than USB 2 overall but nothing to shout about. Thanks.

You'll probably find that the speeds will be slightly faster on the flash drive compared to the WD hard drive.

Can you post up exactly what speeds you are getting with those 2 devices? Check your device manager to be sure your usb3 controllers aren't flagged with the wrong or corrupted driver. Try uninstalling and re-installing your usb3 controller with the latest driver from the manufactures website.

Tim

Thank you.  Device Manager indicates that the Fresco Logic Controller is working fine and up-to-date. The date of driver is 25/02/13.  I have had look about and what I found predates the date of my driver.  I am not sure about using the Benchmark App, but I have attached the readout from UsbFlashSpeed.com.  I have posted on the HP Forum to see if my laptop is capable of using the Express Card to add USB 3.  I have this feeling that the answer will be in the negative.

Many thanks

Ron Barker

Please find attached Benchmark report re USB 3 Flash Drive tested in USB 2 port. Cheers

PS: I have just realised, if there is an increase in speed of transfer, that must mean that the computer is capable of utilising the express card. Therefore, the problem is with the cheap express card, I think??

Read speed is 100mb /s faster on those speed tests.

He does state in this video at about 2.00 minutes you get over 100mb /s read and writes, you're getting over 100mb /s reads.

Something don't seem right. Could be faulty card or hardware issue with your laptop.
