How to Avoid OpenCandy: PUP.Optional.OpenCandy is what we call, Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUP). It is not classed as being a Virus, but you still don’t want it installed on your computer. They have a bad reputation and behavior habits once they get installed. You may notice advertisement popups and your browser maybe be affected and have you redirected to advertisement site when search for something completely different.
These PUP.Optional.OpenCandy program get installed without your knowledge, they are very sneaky in the way they get installed. OpenCandy comes bundled with many freeware software packages when downloaded from sites like Softonic, Brothersoft and Cnet.
You can protect yourself in many different ways with different types of software. Unchecky is a great way to help stop these crafty installers. The first thing to learn is, only download programs from a reliable source. If the software you want to use has OpenCandy, be smart when installing software. If you install OpenCandy by mistake, don’t panic, but I would strongly recommend you remove PUP.Optional.OpenCandy from your computer as soon as possible?
Remember to use a good Antivirus program and I would suggest you buy yourself a premium copy of Malwarebytes Pro and install Unchecky. This should keep you safe and free from PUP.Optional.OpenCandy programs.

Interesting. I scan all installers before running them and if Open Candy is found to be present then I run the installer using a batch file.

Run the batch file and it will start with admin rights. Drag the installer onto the window and it will run with the /NOCANDY switch.
