Are Xeon Processors worth it in 2020?
Today we are looking at the Intel Xeon E5 2689 at $56 it’s LGA 2011 Socket CPU. Release in Q1 2013. So is it worth it? well, that will depend on what the total cost will be for the complete build. Just cost out the motherboard, CPU, and RAM against the Ryzen 5 3600. If you are saving $100, then I personally don’t think it’s worth it. To make the whole project worth doing, it needs to be cheap, way cheaper than a NEW Ryzen 5 3600 build, but it’s NOT. That is the problem. Also, no upgrade path with the Xeon build. No ROI return of investment with the Xeon build. Ryzen 5 3600 outperforms the Xeon by a long way.
Is Intel Xeon Worth it for Gaming?
Important: If you can get the X79 motherboard, Intel Xeon E5 2689, and 16GB RAM way cheaper than Ryzen 3600, Motherboard and RAM, only then will it be worth doing. Even the Ryzen 2600 outperforms the Intel Xeon E5 2689 slightly in gaming and the Ryzen 2600 will be even cheaper to build. So is it worth it?
