Hi,
I like your article ‘How to Install and Run Windows XP on a USB Flash or Pendrive’.
I successfully made the bootable USB as you described.
It resembles Windows XP nicely and much better in that regard than BartPE or similar.
What I would like to customize is to add NIC card support to start with.
So I used LiveXP project with WinBuilder 083 and created ISO with BootSDI.img.
Replaced the img file on usb/i386 with the one generated by BootSDI script, booted USB and ended up with BSOD.
Then, I took another approach, I thought I could modify your original BootSDI.img,
so I mounted the original BootSDI.img with ImDisk (Virtual Disk),
added some NIC drivers and replaced system32 folder (I took the folder from LiveXP project),
unmounted the image, that is the changes are saved in the original BootSDI.img file.
Again replaced the img file on usb\i386 with the one edited with ImDisk,
booted the usb and I ended up with BSOD. 🙁
I wonder if there is any valid way to edit your BootSDI.img, how you would advise to customize it.
or if there is any way to create my own BootSDI.img (with NIC drivers) to use it in place of yours.
Please advise
Thanks in advance
Regards,
Sergey
