If you are a Windows 10 Pro user you have the option of Group Policy Editor this will not be available in Windows 10 Home. press Windows + R and type ‘gpedit.msc’ into the Run box. press enter. navigate to Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Windows Components / Windows Update.

Double-click on ‘Configure automatic updates’. Now select ‘Enabled’ on the radio button. Use the drop down box below to change the setting from ‘Auto download and notify for install’ to ‘Notify for download and notify for install’. Apply and OK the change.

Another option for Windows 10 Pro users is defer updates. Click Start / Settings / Update & Security. Click ‘Advanced options’ and check ‘Defer upgrades’. you can also select “Notify to schedule restart” instead of “Automatic (recommended).”
