"The device, \Device\Harddisk6\DR12, has a bad block"
#21
I've since sent my hard disk to a data recovery specialist and have carried out a report of my case.

It needs a read/write head transplant - data recovery looks to be hopfull when they have done all the checks.

Cheers I seriously have to laugh they provided me with a full quote with the cheapest

Economy Service (14 – 21 days)
File System Rebuild - £145
Read/Write Head Transplant - £195
Unreadable Sector Remap - £145
Required Parts (New read/write heads) - £100
-15% Discount for online quote
TOTAL Cost excluding VAT - £497.25

I seriously smell a rat, I phoned up 2 Competiters today, one of them gave me strong advice to take it to him for a fixed fee of £249 and who has heard bad reports of them, this is what I'm going to be doing, I've emailed this said company to ask for my disk back and tried phoning them but they are closed for the weekend, another company can also do it for the same price as well but I need to see a full quote from their side of matters.

Lets see how this unfolds.

Wow! That's a lot of money. Even the 'cheaper' company seems expensive. I hope things work out for you without breaking the bank. Good luck.
Remember! You should exercise complete CTRL and you ALT to think carefully before you DELete stuff willy nilly.

Just checking out my EaseUSToDoBackup Software and checking out the logs for any clues and I came across this:

The Logs tell me that the back up was successfuly completeted
Two Days latter when I had issues I tried to recover the image and the logs tell me:

"Disk Recovery Failed" Error Is Found On the File System Please Tick Sector By Sector or Clone and Try Again"

Any Thoughts?

As stated before, it is imparative that you check the integrity of any backup image you create to ensure the image is not corrupt. Just because a program says the backup image was successful does not mean that image is not corrupt. Most imaging software including EasUS ToDo Backup has built in tools to check the integrity of your images.

How to check image file with EaseUS Todo Backup

You may also have a corrupt file system. Try running chkdsk /r /f on that drive and see if the image loads.
