sda* are your disk drives/partitions.
If you have any sdb* elements those would be external drives.
sda* and sdb* should be determinable by the size of your HDD for example ;

dev/sda1 = 41838592 which is the same as saying drive c: = 42GB
If you have 8 sda* (where * = the number / letter of a drive) then you have to determine the biggest size, this would likely be your C:

A screenshot would be more helpful.

Good morning Compton,

It took scanning FOREVER, I go to sleep before it finishes. On the morning, I don't know what happened, Bitdefender showing its desktop only and it stopped working (it freezes completely). I tried to click by mouse and push esc button... etc., nothing happened still freezing. Also, my laptop fan was at its maximum speed. I did not know what to do, I just shuted-down and rebooted the system.

Should I rescan using it again? (maybe I will do scanning next week, because its time consuming & I am busy on this whole week).

Thanks for help, Compton!

Hello back Compton!

Sorry, I did not notice your comment early about using Dr. Web. I scanned the system 2 times using Bitdefender today and it failed.

Yesterday night, I put it on scan and go to sleep Big Grin, in the morning black screen showed, it says:

This rescued.unknown_domain linux i686 gentoo ..
Type login password:

then, I restarted the system, in launch it started repairs and system check.

Second time I was on-screen to see what will happen, after +2 hours the scanning window disappeared and showed Bitdefnder desktop, I opened the scanner, and after 10 seconds and disappeared and frozen completely.  Confused

I will do a scan using it on Monday. But could you please provide a link on how to use/scan with Dr. Web.

Thank you.

Hey Compton,

I did a scan using Dr. Web, and it detected 5 threats only, (they was from adwCleaner path on my system!).

Still the systems runs slow, not much improved on speed. What we can do next?

Thank you.

Can you run DDS and attach both txt logs back

Please download Farbar Recovery Scan Tool x64 and save it to your Desktop.
  • Right-click on [Image: FRST.png] icon and select [Image: RunAsAdmin.jpg] Run as Administrator to start the tool.
(XP users click run after receipt of Windows Security Warning - Open File).
  • When the tool opens click Yes to disclaimer.
  • Make sure that Addition option is checked.
  • Press Scan button and wait.
  • The tool will produce two logfiles on your desktop: FRST.txt and Addition.txt.

Please copy and paste their content into your next reply
