skype can't sign in

No it's still not working on any device I have tried the steps you suggested on my Windows machine and also removed Skype and the preferences from my Mac  it doesn't even work on iPhone either .

the only error message I get is the one pictured below which seems to suggest  an account details error  but these are the correct sign in details for my Skype account .

OK, since Skype your account is connected to an outlook email address (Microsoft account), please try to login with your email address and password and see if that works.
Please also create a new user account and see if you can login. It could be a corrupt user account, in the past Skype wasn't working for me and creating a new account solved it.
Also run scans like Compton suggested to make sure your system is malware free and that you have no corrupt system files!

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.

  • Install the progam and select update.
  • Once updated, click the Settings tab, in the left panel choose Detctions & protection and tick Scan for rootkits.
  • Click the Scan tab, choose Threat Scan is checked and click Scan Now.
  • If threats are detected, click the Apply Actions button. You will now be prompted to reboot. Click Yes.
  • Upon completion of the scan (or after the reboot), click the History tab.
  • Click Application Logs and double-click the Scan Log.
  • At the bottom click Export and choose Text file.
Save the file to your desktop and include its content in your next reply.

download and install Zemana AntiMalware
  • check for updates select on scan [Image: 2fSZJuQ]  after the scan is completed
  • remove any malware that is found
  • select on  reports [Image: 2gOiKD6]
  • select open report select file save as
  • save the report
  • post the report on your next reply on the   forum


    Perform SFC scan



    Click 'Start' > Type cmd in the search field > Right-click the command prompt at the top of the list and select 'Run as Administrator'
    Inside the command prompt, type sfc /scannow > Press 'Enter'
    4. Reboot and test.

    no nothing .skype also wouldn't work on my MacBook or iPhone .think it must be the account at skype's end
