@ Britec

You will be over budget if you add a OS to that list Big Grin

When the op sais $600 he means $600... You keep posting up over budget parts  Tongue

With mine you can easily find a dvd drive case and os and still be under budget  Cool

Danial Son Tim, the student does not teach the Master, remember that  Tongue

Here is a revised version

No Operating System. Use stock cooler, it will be OK because its the 8520e

Nice one Compton!

See Britec Compton knows how to stay within a budget  Big Grin

All in all you will be better off going with the 6 or 8 core... Those are better chips for the money.

I have to have virtualization

I think you find this rig to be all you need and more.

  • 8 core FX Processor with plenty of power.
  • Good looking case
  • Great CPU cooler.
  • Your be surprised how good them Sapphire Radeon R7 250X Graphics are.
  • Windows 8.1 drop if not needed.
  • Latest motherboard for that CPU Smile
  • Fully modular PSU gold rated.
  • No SSD but if you don't need OS buy 250Gig Patriot SSD for $79
Total: $696.49 there is room from trimming. That case is nice, but can be cheaper if not needed.

I think we have a winner Smile

Nice! I already have Windows 7 so that makes it cheaper Smile Thanks guys!

EDIT: Is there an ASUS board that is under 100 bucks that is similar to this one? I would like to get an SSD. Do most boards support virtualization? I don't see it mentioned in the specs on newegg???

I have a question about the Xeon, I read where it's as powerful as an i7 but since it doesn't have graphics, it's alot cheaper. Is this pretty accurate? and would it be better than AMD? Just curious.

yes Intel CPU can be more powerful then AMD

but you will have to a pay a lot more for a Xeon Intel CPU Intel Xeon E3-1230V3 Haswell, 3.3GHz, 8MB L3 Cache LGA 1150, 80W Quad-Core Server Processor

Yea I know Intel is way more expensive. Thanks for the help

Is it true that unless you have a really fast cpu like an i7, it doesn't make sense to buy an ssd since the cpu isn't fast enough to take advantage of any extra speeds?
