Yeah, you can do a sleeper PC. But that will mean building a complete system inside your old case which is always possible, built many a system in an old case. BUT I would say that for your first time build you're asking a lot because the case may need to be modded slightly to fit everything in. Also, what is your budget? your title on the post is a bit misleading "Upgrade my HP PAVILLION PC into a gaming PC" what your really want is a new computer in your old case and make it a sleeper PC.

Hi Martin. As you want to play the old games like GTA 4 and that your Q6600 is an okay chip still today. It should be able to run old games like GTA 4. What I would do is upgrade your ram to 8 GB ram. I would also get Windows 10 as Windows Vista does use up a lot of ram. Then get a GTX 750 TI the EVGA one. EVGA GeForce GTX 750 Ti Superclocked 2Gb PCI-E Graphics Card (DVI/HDMI/DisplayPort) That should be able to fit into your case as your case is small. But remember to get DDR2 Ram. And also you need to get at least a 500 or 450w PSU.

This is an video of me putting my Graphics card into my PC. It should give you a good idea how to put your Graphics card into you PC

the guy in Bitwit  said he has to modded things to fix. like britec said this being your first you don't want to go down that

if you want to cut cost you could use back the same hard drive if it is in good health

don't take this the wrong   but when building a gaming  system don't want to have a rat budget Smile

You can get Windows 10 by downloading it from the store but you would need to get a key. And your graphics card is still ok. I had that card before and it did play GTA 4 and the older sims.

Bitwit sleeper machine costs over $1000, what sort of budget do you have to spend on parts and I can help choose the right parts for your build.
