Fake Critical Windows Update That Encrypts All Your Data: In this video we will take a look at a new ransomware called Fantom, its a EDA2 based ransomware and was discovered by AVG malware researcher Jakub Kroustek. This sneaky Ransomware uses a fake Critical Windows Update screen while it goes about its dirty work and encrypts all your data. There is a way to close this screen by press ctrl + f4 which would not be possible if it was a real Windows update. Unfortunately, if you get hit by Fantom Ransomware there is no way to decrypt your data at this present time. So the best way to stay safe is to backup your data on a regular basis and keep it safe away from the computer you are using. That way if you get infected by Fantom Ransomware, you can just reinstall windows and have all you data back in no time.

Don’t become a victim of Fantom backup your files regularly and store them on a external drive and keep it unplugged.

Never pay these cyber criminals money to recover data, it will only encourage them to make more of these types of ransom’s.
